We Have Been Busy Creating Color

This winter we have been busy making colors on knitting yarns and wool for felt making here in the studio.   We are working with both natural dye colors and fiber reactives in order to please a range of customers.  The colors drying outside in the sunshine are pleasing to tourists passing by.  The dye pots afford a hamam like feeling inside the shop at times.  We also aquired a new old Juki sewing machine which I am thrilled with..it doesnt even blink when sewing layers of felt.  Some of the new colors are finding their way into our daily feltwork as well.

Crafting new artisanal striped scarves using hand dyed fabrics combined with silk/ merino wool......perfect for autumn weather. Here are the first with many more to come as they are already sold! Meanwhile we had TRT Turkish television station here filming us for the up coming series on traditional hand craftsmen.

New work from Ikonium getting ready for our exhibition in Bodrum set for July...its all hands on deck Mehmet, Theresa, Sali.Unuz have all been pitching in to create new items!!It has been ramazon, fasting time here, so we have been working through the night ,,trying to work off all the delicious food we have been eating for iftar and sahur!!!!

New felt hats for Spring

We have been working hard at Ikonium Studio filling orders for customers getting ready to fill their shops for the influx of customers for the new season We have particularly had fun creating some new hats for the season both berets and widebrim hats in between making new sikke for the Dervis museum in Galata Mehmets son Salih joined us for a week or so to help out
